Vincent's and GoE pasta - a year in review

Tis the season for looking back at the year that's wrapping up and looking ahead at the year to come. What do you want more of? What worked so well that you're excited for it to continue into 2020?


Here at Garden of Esther, one of the things we were so grateful for in 2019 was Vincent's. A Vero Beach institution for an entire generation and then some, Vincent's adopted GoE as one of their own, consistently featuring our pasta on their Specials Menu. Seemingly every week, they were requesting new flavors and new shapes, encouraging us to grow, expand, and try new things.


As a small way of saying thank you, we've rounded up as many photos as we could find of the magic Vincent's worked on our fresh pasta all through 2019.


This first one is from the Esperienza Gastronomica back in February. Vincent's created an entire menu featuring local food makers (and you can see the list of them in the background of the photo). This was super-exciting (and a little nerve-wracking, in a good way) because my parents were in town and got to attend. Here you're looking at our penne with wild mushrooms in a white wine sauce - just one of the delicious tidbits we we're lucky enough to eat that night.



Next up is the Vincent's Valentine's Day Special: Garden of Esther beet penne with spinach and sun-dried tomatoes in a garlic white wine sauce topped with crumbled goat cheese. The beet penne was perfect for Valentine's Day!



In March, they put together a warm and cozy comfort dish: GoE penne with pancetta and peas.



Later that month it was a little fancier: this is our spinach ziti topped with a pistachio-encrusted swordfish and a grape tomato-white wine reduction sauce. Fantastic!



April brought us more from the sea: GoE cilantro linguine, sea scallops, and mussels with a zucchini-tomato bruschetta and a mandarin orange white wine sauce. Super local and super elegant.


For everyone who was looking for a hearty take on our pasta, Vincent's gave us spinach ziti paired with braised short ribs, carrots, mushrooms, and peas in a tomato demi sauce.



In June, Vincent's made a special request for a saffron spaghetti. Saffron was definitely a new flavor for us and one that turned out to be very popular.



Vincent's did two preparations with the saffron spaghetti - one with a fresh veggie medley (above) and one with the fresh veggies and mussels (below).



Admitting we have a favorite pasta flavor would be like someone revealing they had a favorite child, but there are times when we are particularly proud to see our spinach pasta shine. Here it is in tagliatelle form, coupled with chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, arugula, and shaved parmesan.



After the spinach tagliatelle came spinach spaghetti mixed with ham, peas, and onions in a cream and white wine sauce (which used another local fave, Carmine & Lucia olive oil) and finished with parmesan-reggiano cheese:



And then still more spinach! This is a spinach orecchiette accompanied by a chicken sausage, broccoli, extra spinach, and parmesan cheese.



As fall emerged - or as much fall weather as we ever get here in Vero Beach - Vincent's asked for a traditional penne that he paired with a roasted chicken sausage, peppers, and onions:



Back by popular demand, our saffron spaghetti made a scampi-esque reappearance, this time with more bounty from our beautiful ocean - shrimp.



And as 2019 drew to a close, we were able to get to Vincent's earlier this month to sample our own penne mixed with ham, peas, and plenty of parmesan cheese.



This has been a roller-coaster of a year for Garden of Esther, but one thing we were able to count on was the consistent support of Vincent's. With every order of our pasta they made us look terrific and we truly appreciate being one of the local businesses they intentionally promoted and recommended.


One last photo - getting to be one of the local food artisans highlighted on their menu. Thank you to everyone at Vincent's for being such a good neighbor, cheerleader, and supporter of all things local. Here's to a continued partnership in 2020! We hope to be able to pay your generosity forward someday to another fledgling entrepreneur.
